Adventures of a ladybug

Sorry about the length of time between this post and my last one! Sometimes I think I update it more than I actually do...
Halloween was awesome! We went to our ward trunk-or-treat on Friday night. Here we tested Lizzie's costume; she was a ladybug and she was oh so cute as always!

It's been pretty chilly, as it's already November, so we put a long sleeved red onesie and thick red tights on Liz. We had to take the tights off while we were in the gym because Liz got way too hot! Outside she was fine.

We decorated the trunk of our car--nothing fancy but it was cute. My mom found instructions to make "treat-tainers" to hold candy so I made two witches and a ghost. The containers themselves are milk cartons. You can see them in this picture:

I also made ghost lollipops, which were incredibly easy, as you place a tissue over a tootsie pop, tie with ribbon, and add two eyes and a mouth. Halloween is great! Chris took Lizzie to each car and they filled his hat with candy. Lizzie's face says it all!

After the ward party we headed up to New Jersey. We thought trick-or-treating with my family would be fun and it was, so we are glad we drove up. Before we went trick-or-treating, we went to a Japanese hibachi grill called Momiji. Kate had been raving about it for over a month and insisted that we go. We are very glad that she insisted! It was INCREDIBLE! We really enjoyed it, both the atmosphere and the food.

I had forgotten how much I love trick-or-treating in North Wildwood. We went with my parents and Julia, who was a hippie. (Kate was glitter and she went with her friends; Joe was George W. Bush and went with his friends too.) Liz loved going door to door and showing off her costume. She got a lot of candy, which Mom and Dad will just have to help her eat! ;)

My mom and dad celebrated their twenty-third anniversary on Sunday, so it was nice to be there to celebrate with them. Twenty-three years! Happy Anniversary Padre y Madre!

Hello, October!

This past week has been nothing but cold rain. We hate it. It keeps us in the house when we'd rather stroll through the neighborhood. At least my family missed the rain when they came up to see us last weekend! We went to Antietam and Gettysburg, had the missionaries over for dinner, and loved the time we spent together!

Well, as you may know, I take a post and write about each of my siblings. Today is dedicated to my brother Joe.

Joseph Franklin Jett was born on December 2, 1995--a birthday present for my mom that day! He's now thirteen years old. Joe...where can I even begin? He's always been a very smart guy. In the family, we've said that Joe would be one to invent some contraption that would benefit the known world. He likes science and even had a pretty neat laboratory kit that he used religiously when he was young. Joe has grown a lot in these past few years (literally). At my wedding a little over two years ago, I towered over him.

Not so much anymore! (It's not very visible here, but he does have an inch or two on me nowadays.)

We attribute this growth spurt to his hotdog diet. I'm not kidding, the boy eats AT LEAST two hotdogs a day, probably more when there are more in the house. Mom makes sure to always have some handy. :)

Now that Joe is older, humor is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Joe. When he was young, he was very quiet and very shy but he is nothing like that now. He's developed the cool use of humor that our brother Bill has. He's always making us laugh (FU-nny--thank you Katie!). Whether it's employing his Mexican accent or singing Beatles songs with a British accent, Joe has us laughing.

One of his favorite people to emulate is George Lopez. You'll often hear a "WHA-CHA" or a "Sabes que?" phrase during a conversation with Joe. It never fails! He'll throw in a three-finger stab to your ribcage while he's at it, too (we sisters of the family know this very well).
Joe is the funny man now that Bill is in Colombia, but he's also good with children. Liz can't get enough of Uncle Joe!
She loves his faces and his funny voices. He's always willing to hold her when I need a break (as are Katie and Julia, I will note).

It is pure proven FACT that every time Joe holds Liz, she poops. Really, it's true. The first couple of times it happened, we simply thought it pure coincidence. But it's happened every time since they first met back in February. Hilarious.

Joe, you're a great brother and we love you!

Irish Fest, Teeth, Soccer, you name it...

Chris took the LSAT on Saturday the 26th. Although he was studying every night for the past two months with the course we bought, Liz and I decided to give him the week free of distractions (aka women!) before the exam.

So where did we go?
New Jersey, of course--the land of the wonderful.

We celebrated my Father's birthday! He's 25! (...plus 20...)

Dad's Birthday lasagna, made by the Jett sisters!

We spent the week watching my siblings' soccer games. (I now remember what the wind off the ocean feels like during a soccer game.)

We were delighted to find out that my brother, Elder Jett, is now a Zone Leader in the Colombia Barranquilla Mission!

He's the man and we are so proud of all the work he is doing.

We ate lollipops when we visited Aunt Katie at her job at Samuel's Fudge and Candy Cottage.

We built forts! (When I say "we" here, I'll be honest and tell you that Uncle Joe, Uncle Vinny, and Aunt Julia built the fort.)

We went to 24th street park to swing with Aunt Julia and Aunt Danielle!

Liz discovered that she loves the piano and she loves her high chair at Pop-pop and Mimi's house.

We can always expect a fun time at Pop-Pop and Mimi's!

After Chris took the exam, we went over to the Seafarer's Festival in the Crest and later that night we went to the Irish Festival on our side of the island. Unfortunately, the vendors had already packed their wares away for the night. All that was left were hundreds of drunk people staggering through the streets. We walked in and walked right out again, headed to Wawa for some hot chocolate, and sat on the Lighthouse benches overlooking the Atlantic.

Liz has her first tooth! She and I both had colds during the week so if she was cranky from the tooth, no one knew it. Julia saw it during Joe's soccer game on Saturday. Check it out!

Click on the picture to see it up close.

Thank you, Aunt Katie and Aunt Julia, for teaching your niece Elizabeth a love for Miley Cyrus songs:

We love NJ immensely, but we are happy to be home again :D

My daughter is how old?!

Elizabeth is nine months old as of Sunday. She had her doctor's appointment on Monday and here are her stats:
18 lbs, 13 oz: 50% percentile
28 in. long: 75% percentile
46.8 cm (head circ.): 90% percentile

Lizzie is doing wonderfully, as always. Dr. V is still on maternity leave so we saw Dr. M today. She's nice but I like Dr. V better. Can't wait til she's back!

Currently, her favorite activities include:
taking books off of bookshelves,

playing with Dad's wallet--she knows which one is the credit card,

eating new foods (here she tries a mini cinnamon doughnut),

laughing at everything,

and pulling herself up to everything (here, she watches as the tub fills up for her nightly bath).

Talk to you later!
