August!

I've got to get on track with my posts because I am going to use them as an weekly update email for Hermana Jett, like I did for Elder Jett when he was in Colombia. Let's head back to...August!

A big group of us ladies and our children went to Meadowside Nature Center. I just love that place! And so do the kids.

Another fun outing--a trip to Cunningham State Park for the falls and some swimming.
This was our best try at a group shot with the kids! ;D

We went to the Lang Wedding in Laurel and it was a beautiful ceremony. I really enjoyed the dancing--I don't get to dance as often as I would like.

Next up was our heavily anticipated trip to New Jersey. What didn't we do while we were there?!
Sam's for delicious pizza
Springer's for homemade ice cream
Mimi's garden for relaxing
Duffer's for Aunt Katie's toast
Cape May County Zoo for animal viewing and cart riding
Dinosaur Mini Golf
Mali Kai Pool
Atlantic City for awesome dinner at Los Amigos, gelato at Caesar's...strolling along the boards
Motorcycle riding with Jeff
Lindsay's baby shower
Stone Harbor sunsets with soccer playing
Duffer's again for my birthday lunch!
The CIRCUS!
Beach and boards!
Sarah's birthday
Chandler's bridal shower
When we returned home, we joined Dad at the GWU Law Library for an afternoon.

I think the most significant thing that happened to me this month--besides turning 26--was breaking my right ankle on August 15. Lizzie had fallen asleep upstairs in my parents' bed so I decided to bring her down to Julia's bed where she usually sleeps. On the second half of the stairs, we fell. Lizzie stood up and walked to the bed unharmed, but I knew I had done something awful because I could not touch the heel of my foot to the floor without feeling excruciating pain.
My good brother Joe rescued me from the front steps and whisked me off to Cape Regional Medical Center at 10:45pm. Katie and Dad came later for moral support. Bill and Dad gave me a blessing when I eventually got back to a room. I broke my right fibula, which is the bony part of your ankle.
I had a temporary cast and wrap for five days. When I got back to MD and saw my orthopedic specialist, this is what my foot looked like:
It was so bruised and swollen, I couldn't wiggle my toes. I dubbed it "sausage foot." So gruesome.
I was sent home with a walking boot. Thankfully that allowed me to be much more mobile, although I still couldn't drive.
I wore the walking boot for nearly four weeks, well into September.

And I think that brings us to the month of September here at For Love of the Killion :)

Gah, that poor ankle!! Sadly, my husband just missed your hospital visit-- in September he started his current clinical rotation at Cape Regional Medical Center. Seriously, next time you are in Jersey we need to get together! Elsa would have a blast playing with your little cutie pies. :) She's overwhelmed with little brothers right now.

Ruth, that BYU game get-together was great. We need to do it again the next time you're in town!
Wow, Jul, how cool! That's not too bad of a drive for Josh. Yes, the next time we're up, we need to see each other. (It'll most likely be sometime near Thanksgiving.)
